Frequently Asked Questions

The changegiver does not accept coins or shows a poor acceptance rate. What can I do?
In the “PC Configurator” software there are two diagnostic commands available to test the system status, the sensors, the coin discrimination module, the motors, as well as the coin acceptance. If necessary, it is possible to re-program one or more coins.

The changegiver does not accept coins directed to the cashbox. Why?
In the standard configuration, Paytec changegivers accept coins directed to the cashbox only when the system is not in “exact change” mode. This status occurs when one or more tubes are below minimal levels (for FOUR8900), or when change availability is below a programmed value (Eagle). However, it is always possible to force acceptance by modifying the option “Ex-Ch: Y” in Function 03.

How is the “Exact Change” mode being managed?
For FOUR8900, one can select the most appropriate mode among those available in the table included in the User Manual. For the Eagle changegiver, the system automatically calculates the mode by checking the maximum cash value, the maximum change value and the availability of coins above the minimal value of the tubes.

How is the maximum cash value managed in single vend mode?
In single vend mode, maximum cash value is limited by the highest price set in the price table: this is done in order to limit the amount of cash needed to complete a single sale and to prevent being forced to provide high levels of change.

How can the CV2406 coin validator be programmed?
Programming and configuring the CV2406 coin validator occurs through DIP-switches. It is also possible to use the PC Configurator software. The P6000 programmer cannot be used.

How can the Castor banknote reader be updated?
The reader can be updated through the USB interface available on the product.

How can Giody be connected to the Necta Colibrì and Solista vending machines?
When a standard executive connection is not available on the vending machine, a specific adaptor interface should be used. The settings to configure the product are available in a specific chapter of the User Manual.

What are the main differences between Caiman (standard) e Caiman Lite?
In its standard versions (EXE, EXE-EXE, MDB, MDB-MDB) Caiman is a complete cashless system that, beside managing a coin validator or a banknote reader in parallel, is also able to connect to different MDB peripherals, like coin changegivers, banknote readers (MDB) or additional cashless peripherals, just by using an MDB Master cable. Maximum power absorption should not exceed 1.5 A though.

Caiman Lite (EXE and MDB) is a more compact cashless system. It has no integrated IrDA port and can only manage the key/card. Nevertheless, the EXE version allows the connection of a coin validator at 24Vdc. The Lite versions do not encompass bonus management for Recharging, Menu and Calendar functions.

What is the difference between keys Type (Euro) 1 and keys Type (Euro) 98?
Keys Type (Euro) 98, besides having a credit area dedicated to “free credit”, allow the use of all credit variants available on Paytec systems.
Keys Type (Euro) 1 do not have a “free credit” area and can only manage specific bonus types.

Can I switch from managing keys Type (Euro) 1 to keys Type (Euro) 98?
Yes, it is possible to switch the Type of the keys by using the “key code conversion” function available in all Paytec cashless systems. The function can be enabled from all programming tools.

What is the self-programmable key? What is it useful for?
A self-programmable key is neither formatted nor coded. Formatting and coding take place automatically when the key is inserted for the first time in a cashless system where the option “write new keys” is enabled. Self-programmable keys are available only for PIT technology.

Is it better to use keys “Type” or keys “Euro”?
When used in the Euro-zone, it is recommended to use keys “Euro”. When used in countries with other currencies, it is better to use keys “Type”, even where a future switch to the Euro currency is planned or likely to occur.

How do you update a product firmware?
SIB (Serial Interface Board) is the device used to update firmware on Paytec product. Using SIB firmware (release 5.10 or later) in conjunction with the “PC-Configurator” software (release 6.02 or later), the software indicates which and how many firmware can be loaded on the device.

What is the difference between the Audit Control and the Audit View software applications?
Audit Control allows viewing, checking and printing audit data in EVA-DTS format.
Audit View is a specific software aimed at managing the Extended Audit. Through multiple search filters, it is possible to identify each single data among thousands of events stored in the audit file.

Is the P6000 portable programmer compatible with older products?
Yes, with the exception of the Leonardo series.

Is it possible to cancel the codes of the keys using “PC-Programmer”?
Paytec technology has been deployed to guarantee maximum security standards. There is no way to cancel or modify the PIN codes of the keys without knowing the current ones.

Is it possible to know the tasks performed by “PC-Programmer”?
The application has a specific window showing all tasks performed on the keys. This view can also be printed.
